NYHS ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT PHILOSOPHY
In keeping with NYHS's mission, our athletic programs provide a positive and inclusive atmosphere in which participants grow emotionally, intellectually, and physically. We believe athletic programs are an extension of the classroom and Jewish values at NYHS; important characteristics and skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, integrity, and grit are ingrained through team building, practices, and competitions. Our athletics are rigorous and support our student athletes' growth in their ability to take personal responsibility in achieving self-set goals and in contributing and committing to their teams.
SPORTS & ACTIVITIES
Students are encouraged to participate in athletics and co-curricular activities both through NYHS and with outside teams or clubs. Our intention is to enable students to participate in a fun, safe, inclusive environment where athletes of all skill levels are given a platform to improve their skills or to explore a new sport. The NYHS Athletics Program builds the skills necessary for students to compete at the high school level. All NYHS sports teams compete regionally against Division 1B/2B high schools (whose enrollment ranges from 26 to 214 students). Students participating in NYHS sports must maintain a 2.0 GPA to participate.
